According to the results of the harvest, announced by the government of Turkmenistan on July 5 of this year, 1.65 million was obtained. According to forecasts of correspondents of KhT, this amount of grain should have been enough for the first time, but now there is a shortage of flour in the country.
Ministry of Commerce state-owned shops sell poor-quality “first grade” flour at a price of 0.9-1 manat / kg (1 manat - $ 0.29). But the citizens of Turkmenistan are in no hurry to buy it.
They are much more willing to give money for premium flour. It is rarely on sale, it costs about 3 manat. This flour does not have time to lie down, local residents take it apart in a few hours. Private shops release this flour for 4 manats. It is assumed that it was originally intended to be sold through state stores, but dealers bought it up in bulk and resold it to private retail outlets.
Flour produced in Russia and Kazakhstan is even more expensive. It is sold by weight at 7-8 manats / kg. The situation with bread is similar in Turkmenistan.
Private stores sell large quantities of cakes called "chorek", at 1 manat / pc. In state stores, bread in the form of loaves costs 0.6 manat. In the morning, large lines lined up behind him. Such bread disperses for an hour.
