200 kg For the first time, the new product will be available at Agritechnica in Hanover.
John Deere and Volocopter present the first large drone, adapted for agricultural use in the Agritechnica: VoloDrone. This VoloDrone is fully functional and ready for first use.
With a possible payload of 200 kg. the drone must achieve tremendous performance, especially in difficult operating conditions, companies say.
Volocopter first developed a large drone equipped with a John Deere sprayer. At the same time, companies see great potential for the use of VoloDrone in agriculture.
VoloDrone has 18 rotors and a diameter of 9.2 m. It has a fully electric drive with replaceable lithium-ion batteries. The battery charge allows you to increase the flight time up to 30 minutes. VoloDrone can be controlled both remotely and automatically along a pre-programmed route.
The device is equipped with a standardized mounting system, which makes it easy to install various devices for various purposes. To protect plants, the large drone is equipped with two containers for pesticides, a pump and a spray boom.
Low heights mean that exceptionally high production rates of up to 6 ha can be achieved. per hour and improved spray control.
Due to their greater flexibility and GPS control, site-specific procedures are also possible. Thus, VoloDrone will become a sustainable, effective and extremely economical alternative to helicopters.
