The unique biodegradable packaging, which can decompose, was created by Brazilian developers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
They called their invention Plasticor. And, according to the creators, this packaging is able to change its color based on whether the products fresh in it or those that are already starting to deteriorate.
At the moment, researchers are in search of a generous sponsor who could invest in the production of Plasticor on an industrial scale.

Juan and his colleagues are convinced that creating packaging that changes color depending on the shelf life of products is an excellent and unusually effective method of managing food intake.
“With Plasticor, entrepreneurs and consumers will be able to give preference to products with a short shelf life, and they will also be able to timely identify expired products that can still be used safely,” Balbino emphasizes. He also focuses on the fact that Plasticor is environmentally friendly - no chemical additives are used in its production.
“Yes, and it decomposes quite quickly,” concludes the young biophysicist. “While ordinary plastic can decompose up to 500 years, six months is enough for our Plasticor.”
