During the second month of summer, plum in Ukraine became cheaper. So plum has become the most affordable among seasonal fruits in Ukraine, Info-Shuvar analysts said, relying on their own price monitoring.
According to the data as of July 30, 2019, traders of the largest wholesale market in Western Ukraine, ORSP “Shuvar” offer plums at a price of 5-8 UAH / kg. (0.17-0.27 euro / kg.). A week earlier, plums were sold at 10-15 UAH / kg. (0.34-0.53 euro / kg.).
In July, 420 tons of plum were sold at Shuvar. At the same time, a noticeable increase in supply was observed in the last two weeks of this month.
The cost of plums in Ukraine decreased due to a sharp increase in its supply from local gardeners and importers. Although Ukraine is now harvesting locally grown plums, it also imports these fruits from Uzbekistan, Serbia and Moldova.
Competition plums are apricots, nectarines and peaches. The supply of pears and apples is gradually increasing, and the price of blueberries is also falling.
According to Info-Shuvar experts, the current prices for plums are already almost 20% lower than the prices of the previous 2 seasons. In previous years, the minimum plum prices were recorded at the end of August.
