According to EastFruit project experts, a drop in the cost of blueberries has been recorded in Ukrainian markets.
Currently, local farms offer berries at a price of 110-180 UAH / kg, which is 3.84-6.91 dollars / kg. This is twice cheaper than in the first days of this week, when its price was in the range of 250-260 UAH / kg, which is equivalent to 9.60-9.98 dollars / kg.
According to agricultural producers, several reasons immediately led to lower prices for goods. In particular, they include a large number of offers of berries due to its high productivity in the current year.
The production of blueberries also increased. Plantations that were planted earlier have already entered the fruiting period. Large blueberries and seasonal fruits and berries, which also reduce its cost, also compete with blueberries.
Today, the main sales channel for products is the domestic market of Ukraine. Export companies have not yet shown much interest in this berry. Most market participants believe that if the situation with export supplies does not change in the near future, they will be forced to further reduce prices.
Recall that earlier EastFruit project experts predicted the export of Ukrainian blueberries in 2019 at the level of 4.5-5.0 thousand tons.
