The number of pigs in agricultural enterprises of Ukraine in August this year decreased by 2.7% or almost 100 thousand. This was reported by analysts of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine.
So, if in early August the industrial livestock of pigs in Ukraine amounted to 3.54 million heads, then in early autumn this figure dropped to 3.44 million heads.
“The largest losses of pigs (more than 30% per month) are observed in the Lviv region, where in mid-August they recorded the largest outbreak of ASF at the industrial complex on a Ukrainian scale and the second largest loss in Europe (after last year's anti-record in Romania, where ASF was lost complex for 140 thousand heads.) ”, - experts of ACS note.
“Although the number of industrial livestock so far exceeds last year's figure, the“ gap ”fell to 0.6% or 21 thousand. A month earlier, the deviation reached 100 thousand goals. or 2.9%.
Given this dynamics, as well as a gradual decrease in the number of pigs in the household sector (-6.2% per year), the total number of these animals in Ukraine decreased by 2.6% compared to the beginning of autumn 2018 - to 6.3 million. goals, ”added to the ACS.
Recall, on August 16, 2019, the case of African swine fever was recorded in LLC Galichina-Zapad, in the Stryi district of Lviv region. The farm was one of the 10 largest pig farms in Ukraine. As a result of the outbreak, nearly 73 thousand animals were killed there.
