The agricultural enterprise "Khmelnitsky", located near the city of Khmelnik Vinnytsia region and part of the agricultural holding "Astarta", for the first time laid the experimental chickpea crops.
42 ha were allocated for chickpea cultivation. On the example of a pilot plot, farmers want to understand whether it is promising to grow a culture in the region, the farm reports on its Facebook page.
According to agronomists in the region, chickpeas are an unpretentious, valuable food and feed crop. It has a beneficial effect on the soil condition, leaving behind organic nitrogen, which helps to reduce the use of mineral fertilizers.Farmers will collect chickpeas in the middle, or even at the end of August. At this time, early crops were already removed from the fields and threshed, and industrial crops have not yet ripened, they say in the farm.
