During the monitoring conducted on April 12, 2019 among the farmers of the Odessa region, it turned out that the first seedlings of early sowing seeds were obtained on some fields, analysts from Information Agency Industry share information.

Most respondents noted that they have not yet completed the sowing campaign of sunflower. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reports that as of April 12 this year, 149.4 thousand hectares were planted in the Odessa region, which is 40.9% of the forecast.

A small number of crop producers reported the discovery of the first seedlings of sunflower in the southern part of Odessa. According to the assurances of the respondents, the sowing campaign of the crop was carried out in early March. This was facilitated by favorable weather conditions and an optimal supply of moisture in the upper soil layer.

Agrarians of Odessa region noted that the rainfall that fell in the region this week, will favorably affect the state of sunflower seedlings.

Earlier it was reported that the agrarians of the Kherson region were forced to start watering due to a critical lack of moisture in the upper soil layer. Due to lack of water, winter cereals stopped growing, stopping at the tillering phase.
