For the September-March 2018/2019 marketing year, Ukraine sold 304.6 thousand tons of sugar abroad, which is 10% less than in the previous season.
In March this year, the country exported 30.2 thousand tons of sugar, which is 12% less than last month, the Ukrsakhar association said. The main supplies of sweet products of Ukraine were made to countries such as Azerbaijan (17%) and Tajikistan (16%).
Significant volumes of sugar were shipped to Uzbekistan (13%), Israel (12%) and Kazakhstan (11%). Recall that in the season 2018/2019 sugar production in Ukraine decreased significantly.
The decrease in production volumes reached 15% and amounted to 1.82 million tons. Earlier it was reported that according to 2018 data, sugar beets obtained from the fields of Ukraine were of average quality. Beet sugar content was 16.5%.
Last year, only 2 of all sugar factories in Ukraine worked with beets with a sugar content of over 18%. Seven enterprises cultivated root crops 17-18% sugar content, 16-17% - 20, 15-16% - 11 plants.
Recall that in the current marketing year 2019/20. 34-35 sugar factories will operate in Ukraine, whereas in 2018/19. 42 sugar manufacturing companies worked on its territory.
