The current week was marked for the Russian market by a sudden rise in price of potatoes. A few days ago, the Russians gave 15% less money for potatoes than today, when the price of a kilogram package with tubers reached 17 rubles.

“A week ago, consumers paid an average of 12 rubles per kilogram of potatoes (prices ranged from 8 to 16 rubles), but today potatoes are cheaper than 10 rubles per kilo!” - say market participants.

Experts are sure that the increased demand for this crop was formed due to the small supply of potatoes in Russian vegetable stores. It is noteworthy that many farmers sold almost their entire supply of potatoes during the New Year holidays.

Market participants intend to solve the situation with a possible shortage of potatoes using imported supplies.
