Today, harvesting garden strawberries (strawberries) in Ukraine is in full swing. Following the farms from the southern regions and the greenhouse complexes of Transcarpathia, farmers in the central regions of the country began to pick berries. Strawberry producers are actively exporting their products, and the greatest demand for it is observed from Belarus.
This year Belarus purchases Ukrainian strawberries not only for re-export to Russia, but also for its own market.
Now prices for strawberries in the markets of Belarus are formed in the range of $ 2.5-3.0 / kg, which is almost 2 times higher than its value in Ukraine. The competition for Ukrainian berries in Belarus is made up of products from southern European countries such as Albania, Greece, Spain.
Its cost is much lower, but the European berry is not in great demand among consumers. Buyers in Belarus were wary of this early product, suspecting the presence of a high nitrate content in it.
With increasing demand for garden strawberries in Belarus, the prices for it also increased, which inspires optimism in local producers who have already managed to put their berries on the markets and retail chains of the country.
But the dominant position in the Belarusian market is still occupied by strawberries from Ukraine and Poland. Due to adverse weather conditions during the ripening of strawberries in Poland, Ukrainian products are better and more competitive in value.
