In 2019, agricultural producers of the Sumy region refused to grow buckwheat due to the high stocks of cereals of last year's crop and a drop in its profitability, as reported by a leading researcher at the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of the NAAS of Ukraine (Sumy Region) Nikolai Bondarenko.
According to him, the list of the largest agricultural enterprises in the Sumy region, where buckwheat is grown at the Institute of North-East of the NAAS, includes Severinovskaya agricultural company, Lan, Garant, Diana companies.
“This year, none of these enterprises is going to grow buckwheat,” said Nikolai Bondarenko.
He added that the remains of buckwheat of the Garant enterprise are 700 tons. The company does not sell cereals, as it cannot gain a decent amount for it.
Earlier it was reported that Vinnitsa farmers refused to grow millet, considering it unprofitable. But this spring, agrarian officials asked them to sow more millet in writing, as high prices for millet were set in the markets.
The calls of officials were heard. Farmers in the Vinnitsa region not only included millet in the list of crops grown, but also exceeded the plan for its sowing.
