Milk & More, Britain's largest home delivery service for milk and dairy products, has announced 160 new environmentally friendly delivery vehicles.
By May 2019, the fleet of electric vehicles will increase to 500 units. The new vehicles are powered by rechargeable batteries and have a range of up to 125 miles, which is very important as the vehicles will cover about 14 million miles per year.
Compared to old vehicles, the use of electric vehicles will save 3.4 million liters of diesel per year. The next key advantage of using electric vehicles is noise reduction, which is extremely important for customers, since most deliveries are made before 7 a.m.
Another innovation from Milk & More is the sale of one-pint milk in glass bottles. The company also replaced the 1.75 million plastic bags that it previously used each year with paper bags, which is more convenient in a wet morning.Andrew Kendall, deputy general manager of Milk & More, said: "We are turning the great British milkman into a modern, convenient delivery service based on a sustainable, environmentally friendly offer."
