The World Bank has decided to allocate $ 2.6 million to Ukraine to support the dairy industry. The country will receive this money from the International Finance Company (IFC) of the World Bank.
It is planned that donor funds will be able to support more than 600 dairy cooperatives in Ukraine, which serve or unite more than 40 thousand small milk producers and cover more than 30 thousand dairy farmers. Financial support is extremely important for Ukrainian milkmen.
“Now my private farm produces over 40 types of different products, donor support will allow me to open milk collection centers in the community, launch a milk truck, hire people,” says entrepreneur Alexander Chaplik, who processes milk and produces products from it in the Zvanovsky community of Bakhmutsky district of Donetsk region. The project will last throughout 2019. It is expected that it will contribute to the growth of the dairy industry in Ukraine by increasing the productivity of producers, expanding farmers' access to resources, and also by supporting the modernization of dairy plants.
It was previously reported that most of the cattle in Ukraine are concentrated in private farms of the country's population - about 67% of the total number of cows. 33% of cows are raised in agricultural enterprises.
